Highlights: MLS All-Stars 2-5 Manchester United (July 28, 2010)
Great debut for Javier Hernandez (who is wearing "Chicharito" on his jersey) in front of +70000 in Houston. Also, the Tom Cleverley goal is worth waiting for. Brilliant.

World Cup Lookalikes 2010
Although I haven't put a great deal of thought into these, I think I've really captured likenesses with a few of them. Try to figure out which ones make me especially proud.
US forward (with the best name in World Cup history) Herculez Gomez....
...and US President Barack Obama.
...and Academy award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush.
Unproductive England forward Wayne Rooney...
...and mildly productive (He plays Jimmy Olsen on Smallville) Canadian actor Aaron Ashmore.
Deputized ESPN host Bob Ley (of Outside the Lines fame)...
...and the pastor from Disney's North Avenue Irregulars (Edward Herrmann).
Deputized ESPN host #2 Chris Fowler...
...and Meet the Press host David Gregory.
Single best player in the world (and maybe ever) who didn't score a single goal in WC2010, Lionel Messi (Argentina)...

...and single best Batman in the world (barring Adam West...and other people who played Batman that I'm not aware of), Christian Bale.
Too solidify my opinion on this likeness, here is youthful Lionel Messi...
...and equally youthful Christian Bale.
(I actually switched the pictures here. The top one is Bale and the bottom one is Messi. It was quite difficult to find a picture of Bale playing soccer and one of Messi not playing soccer. But I did it.)**
German standout young player Mezut Ozil (sign him up, Sir Alex!!!)...
...and Adrien Brody (I'm not fond of this likeness, but I know Ozil looks like somebody...I just can't put my finger on it).

South African winger Tshabalala, scorer of first WC2010 goal...
...and glassy-eyed Irish actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (imagine him with Groucho Marx eyebrows).
Astonishingly mediocre England full back Ashley Cole...
...and Disney character actor Keenan Wynn (seen here breathing his final breath).
African philanthropist and Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba...
...and either one of the Williams sisters (just pick one).
**Not true.

Dempsey's Wonder Goal vs. Juventus!
Clint Dempsey sends Fulham through with an audacious chip. I'm cool with Dempsey being paired with Jozy up top for World Cup 2010. This is his second wonder goal of the Fulham campaign. How many players score two wonder goals in a lifetime - let alone in one campaign? Remember this one vs. Stoke?

Manchester United: Carling Cup Winners (Highlights)
Rooney's header wins the Carling Cup for Manchester United. Since he's scored his last gazillion or so goals with his head, one almost forgets the early criticism that he didn't have heading ability. Cup winners again!

Manchester United v West Ham United
by peerzoner
My brother pointed out how good United are when Berbatov links well with the wing play. He played in Valencia for the cross to Rooney to head home on the first two goals. And it's always great to see Owen finish like that. He's still one of the coolest finishers in the world.

Highlights: West Ham 0-4 Manchester United
Gibson scores his third right-footed screamer of the week! I love the keeper's celebration after the fourth goal. I don't know if he's trying to emualate Nani or Peter Schmeichel, but he did a pretty good impersonation of my brother in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOXRSdJiJ7k

Weekend matches
Wigan 0-5 United
Scorers: Rooney (2), Berbatov, Owen, and Nani.
Michael Owen's first Premier League goal with Manchester United...and what a finish!
Hull City 1-0 Bolton
Scorer: Ghilas
Jozy's first touch in the EPL created that goal. He had several more chances and was unlucky not to score. I think he'll get the start next time out.

Best Monty Python sketch
Even though there are tons of funny parts of this sketch, my favorite moment is still when Karl Marx is on the touchline in his warm-ups.

Anderson's Free Kick in the Audi Cup (7/29)
This was Anderson's first goal (from open play) for United.

I was there!
I wasn't there for all five goals, but I was there for No.1 (Etcheverry scoring from mid-field). In fact, if you pause the video and look really, really closely, you can probably see me near field level on the concourse (I haven't looked yet...I'm just assuming).
